Divorces can take an incredibly long time to conclude and if the thought of your ex profiting from your death irks you greatly – regardless of whether you have a substantial estate or not – you need to alter your will with your solicitor as soon as possible following your separation.

It’s a fairly fundamental process, most switched on solicitors will offer this option to you as a matter of course, but don’t be afraid to request it at your first discussion.
